Dreams...

I have a post I'm working on regarding the minimum wage (The People's State of New Jersey just raised theirs and permanently linked it to the cost-of-living, and Obama is going after the federal minimum wage...nothing like using the power of government to take from one group and give to another).

But, today I would just rather dream about going Galt. Here's the plan...

To buy some land in the West.  Preferably with a nice home away from town.  Away from a small town, and way away from any big city.

This would be nice:

...or this:

...or even THIS:

Enough land to have chickens on the ranch:

...because I love chicken and ranch:

Most importantly, I want to have a guest house, or small guest houses, for family and friends to stay, for short, or long periods of time. Enough to call it a "compound," like this:

...or this:

...or this

And, Mrs. Bannon and I have always wanted to rehab an old barn:

And, of course, a little space for this:

...or this:

And, Mrs. Bannon wants a little of this:

And, private out of the way little places for this:

...and this:

And where I can wear this:

...and work on this:

Going Galt.

I can't say that I find any fault in that plan.

Go for it! You could raise Buffalo Chickens.

I'll buy the acreage next to you and move in. The only thing that is lacking in your plan (and it speaks to sustainability) is a 3 acre trout pond with a stream that feeds it. I could build that…even though the doctrine of "you didn't build that" means that I couldn't do it without government help...

We may need that. What are the odds (I'm very picky) that a good property with a good house - also has a good water supply. We may have to frack a little...

I recently saw some excellent property in northern New Mexico - I didn't know there was that much pine up there.

You can always drill for water and pump a constant flow into your trout/bass pond. Northern N. Mex is nice. I'm not as fond of the rest of that state.

That Red River, N. Mex area is one you should look at if you haven't already.
