"Experience should teach us to be most on our guard to protect liberty when the government's purposes are beneficial. Men born to freedom are naturally alert to repel invasion of their liberty by evil-minded rulers. The greater dangers to liberty lurk in insidious encroachment by men of zeal, well-meaning but without understanding." - Louis Brandeis

Shall...
Shall be free…
Shall be secure…
Shall not be infringed...
A National Right-To-Carry-Law should read something like this: The right of the people to keep and bear arms SHALL not be infringed. Or words to that effect.
The Second Amendment and all of the responsibility and accountability that it confers to WE THE PEOPLE is the ONLY thing that will save us from the actions of the savages.
ISIL enjoys attacking unarmed people at restaurants in Paris or at a Christmas party in California. Mowing down unarmed Christians in the Levant is their stock in trade. The presence of armed, free people (and freedom confers the right to protect yourself) at any location stops them. I have no idea why that concept is not conveyed to the Europeans - but I have a sneaking suspicion that those without a tradition of self-protection may be forced to consider the option in coming years.
Of course the root cause of Islamic discontent is the weather. Once we've fixed that, it's all unicorns and rainbows.
