If you haven't heard, or read, Oakland News Channel KTVU announced the names of the pilots of the Asiana flight that crash landed in San Francisco.
But...as it turns out, those aren't the names...
Even though this was on the evening news, there is a ***Rated R*** name in there.
I'm surprised that they didn't use the famous Vietnamese pilot Phoc Yew or the Chinese ace Hu Flun Dung...
And coming back to Earth for just a moment, this sort of thing underscores the problems that Westerners have not only with understanding Asian names but comprehending the way that Asian people's think.
Confucian philosophy (and Confucian concepts of guilt) run headlong into Christian philosophy and Christian guilt -- which are not the same thing.
It's all 'lost in translation'.
